Day Thirty- one: The truth will set you free

"So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”  They answered him, “We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?” Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave[a] to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." John 8:31-36

What a great verse. It was the text for the Reformation service we had last night. Such a great sermon followed it, as well. We are all sinners, condemned sinners. We deserve nothing good. But that is the great thing about God's mercy, He gives us what we do not deserve, salvation. Jesus Christ has set us free from our chains of sin. The truth of his sacrifice and his death sets us free from our bondage. He takes our place. Isn't that great news? And you thought Halloween was all about creepy scary ghouls and ghosts! Think again, it's so much more. So I hope that this is a good end to your night, and your October! Happy Reformation day, and Happy Halloween!
God Bless!
