Day Twenty-Four: WWJD? Die, duh!

I was at a bible study tonight, led by two very good friends of mine, and one of them inspired this post. We got on to the topic of when people say "WWJD" or "What would Jesus do?" I mean, it's great and all that Jesus is your role model but do you really want to know what Jesus would do? He would die. on the cross. Oh wait! He already did that! It is just sort of a pet peeve of mine when people ask that about everything that they do. To me, it is almost like they are trying to be like God. Hello! That's what got us in trouble in the first place! Does anyone remember the serpent and Eve in the garden of Eden?

Eve told the serpent "God said, 'You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.' But the serpent said to the woman, 'You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.'" Genesis 3:2-5

And look where that got us! So don't do it people! Don't try to become like God, you will not succeed. I know some people may disagree with me on the use of "WWJD", but in my opinion don't. Unless you plan on dying on the cross, which still won't save anyone because we are not perfect as Jesus was and is. So there is my rant for the day. Instead of thinking "what would Jesus do" think, rather, what would please Jesus? I think that will get you to a better place. And, pleasing Jesus should bring joy to your life. It's a win/win situation, really!
God bless!

"For by grace you have been saved through faith, And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." Ephesians 2: 8-10
