What's the BIG idea?

Change... BIG decisions... and the big decisions that will cause that change....

I don't know about you guys but this has definitely been something that has been on my mind recently. From the little decisions like what to wear to prom to the BIG decisions such as where to go to college, my mind has definitely been hitting both ends of this spectrum, hard. It is at times like these that I go to many sources, and I encourage you to do the same. Of course, first and foremost, is God and his word. His word is filled with so many comforting things that have helped me out a lot when I get over stressed with everything.

"Do not be anxious about anything , but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God"- Philippians 4:6
"I can do all things through him who strengthens me"- Philippians 4:13

Another source I typically go to when this stress gets a little out of hand is one of my favorite teachers, she's not just there to teach school work ya know, no matter how impeccable her nerdyness is:). So I asked her what advice she would give to a senior deciding where to go for college, and here is what she had to say:

Treat it like you would a relationship. You're not going to pick the "right guy" just because everyone else thinks he is the right guy. And that goes the same way for picking schools. Basically, know yourself. Know your strengths and your weaknesses and pick a school that highlights the strengths and builds on the weaknesses. Don't pick it based on the mascot or because your best friend or boyfriend is going there. Pick it because that is where YOU want to be, and don't listen to anyone elses opinions on it.

so, I'm just gonna lay it out there. And I know, people don't usually comment on my posts but I hope maybe you will for this one. You see, I think of this as my safe haven. No one is going to judge here, no one can give you a dirty look because hey, we are all behind computer screens. Besides, I know you're all thinking it anyways so here it is. I'm scared. I'm afraid of the future because I don't know what's going to happen, where I am going to end up, what I'm going to end up doing. But the thing is, we don't have to be afraid because God has a plan for us. No matter what happens, he will bring us through, because he loves us. So in the end, realize that there is no use worrying about these big decisions or these changes that are going to come because, truth is, change is going to happen( see: Change? no thanks, you can keep it) but we have ways of managing it, like talking to people we trust and look up to, and talking to God and reading his word.  So, yes I know that the future is a scary thing, but all we can do is take it one day at a time and trust that God will work everything out. He always does. If you keep that mindset, I know that you'll find the joy in life.

"Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand"- Isaiah 41:10
